Afriek is a community of global actors. Their collections are a tool to create cross-cultural collaborations and challenge the status quo. Afriek’s aim is to share stories that may change people’s perception by connecting bright individuals across the globe and producing beautiful things for people who dare to stand out.

With regards to sustainability and transparency, what are your core values that define how your brand operates? We are focussed mainly on transparency and fair trade, as our company stands for equal collaboration. We collaborate with all our tailors based on equality and believe that a democratic and transparent work environment is good for everyone. We implement this by organizing bi-weekly meetings with our staff to talk about improvements from both the employer and employee side, and to discuss planning and situation so everyone is involved in all aspects of the company and knows there is always room for discussion.
With regards to sustainability & transparency, what are the "hot topics" you are currently working on and try to improve yourself on? We are working on researching new fabric possibilities, for our next collection we will work with fabrics from factories in Ghana (GTP) and Ivory Coast (Uniwax) - daughter companies of Vlisco. To ensure more transparency in resources. we envision that in 2020 all our fabrics are sustainable.
